Stapleton plans to announce candidacy
ANDERSON, Ind. — Anderson businessman Jay Stapleton has confirmed that he will be running as a Republican for mayor this spring.
Stapleton hasn't officially made an announcement but said "without a doubt" he is running for mayor.
Stapleton said he plans to make an official announcement of his candidacy before the filing date in mid-January.
Smith announced his intentions to a crowd Tuesday night at Republican headquarters.
