ANDERSON, IN - Madison County Prosecutor Thomas Broderick Jr., recently announced that the recipient of the Bob Highsmith award this year is Denny Lanane. The announcement and presentation of the award was made at the TRIAD meeting held on Thursday April 15th.

Prosecutor Broderick stated that based on the nominations and their review, Denny Lanane was presented the Highsmith Volunteer award due to his dedicated and continued efforts to serve the senior citizens of Madison County.

Dennis (Denny) Lanane is the president of TRIAD. He hosts meeting s every month for seniors so they can learn about senior citizen scams, safety information, health information, and to provide resource information concerning other needs. Denny also has a newspaper column once a month to provide information for seniors.

The Bob Highsmith award is presented each year to an individual or non-profit organization for their work to assist senior citizens.  Bob Highsmith volunteered relentless hours to call seniors and check on their welfare. He would make sure that seniors had the resources to assist them. Bob worked with the senior link program for years until he was no longer able due to illness.

Bob's wife, Sallye Highsmith, assisted Bob in his endeavors and made sure Bob was able to travel to places where he was needed. Sallye was the first recipient of the award last year.

Prosecutor Broderick and Sallye Highsmith shared in the presentation of the award to Denny Lanane. Over 100 people were in attendance which included senior citizens and representatives from non-profit organizations, senior housing providers, medical groups, AARP, and Law Enforcement.

Sallye said, "After looking at the nominations, Denny is the Highsmith award. He cares about seniors."

Prosecutor Broderick said, "Denny has dedicated many years to the welfare of our seniors in Madison County. Our seniors need to be safe and have this type of support that Denny provides.

Prosecutor Broderick also presented a $500.00 donation to TRIAD on behalf of Denny Lanane.
