INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Libertarian Party of Indiana will be hosting its 2010 Annual Convention on April 23, 24, 25, at the Drury Inn & Suites Northeast. The party will be selecting candidates for the Federal Senate race, all nine Federal House seats, and many state legislative offices. Most importantly, the LPIN will select its Secretary of State candidate. Greenfield resident Mike Wherry is currently the only candidate seeking the nomination. All of these candidates will be present at the convention and will be available for interview.

The Libertarian Party is considered a "minor party" in Indiana by obtaining at least 2% of the vote in the Secretary of State race. The LPIN does not qualify to hold a Primary Election until 10% of the vote is obtained in the Secretary of State race. Because of the lack of a taxpayer-funded Primary Election, the Party Convention is where potential candidates debate and are voted on by the attending delegates for the party's nomination.

Throughout the weekend over 100 Libertarians will not only elect candidates, but will also attend workshops, listen to guest speakers and participate in a debate between Libertarian National Chairman Candidates. For additional information or to arrange interviews, please contact Executive Director Chris Spangle.
