Apparently some national forum shut down and this is a place where some can go to keep posting on national and local issues it seems.

Apparently some national forum shut down and this is a place where some can go to keep posting on national and local issues it seems.

Topix finally shut down its forums due to the continuing actions of certain groups of trolls that were resulting in repeated lawsuits.  Topix's business model didn't allow for any sane moderation against registered members so Topix had members posting defamatory content willy-nilly and hence the lawsuits.  Topix had already been admonished by numerous state's Attorney Generals and had been a party to innumerable lawsuits.  So, they were losing money primarily due to their flawed business model and would rather shut down the forums than moderate the worthless troll members they had left after those trolls had run off all the decent clientele.

To my eye, this place seems to be the safest and most comprehensive national forum for those who are smart enough to avoid the trap of those unsafe little offshoot forums run by individuals with agendas who fill them with socks and collect your data for nefarious ends.

National forums run by business are far safer than those personal forums.
