Heat advisory in effect from 11 am this morning to 8 pm edt thursday, The NWS in Indianapolis has issued a heat advisory, which is in effect from 11 am this morning to 8 pm edt thursday.
Temperature, heat index values of 100 to 104 degrees are expected today and Thursday afternoon, as air temperatures rise into the low 90s. The heat index will only fall into the mid 70s during the overnight hours. Heat index readings near 100 degrees are also possible Friday afternoon.
Impacts, the likelihood of heat related illnesses will increase each day, due to the extended duration of heat and humidity. Heat exhaustion or heat stroke are possible for people spending any time outdoors, especially if they are hard at work or play. The heat is especially dangerous for children, the elderly, or those with medical conditions. Leaving a child or pet in an enclosed vehicle, even for a short time, can be deadly.
