Just in case my post at the bottom of page 1 gets skipped now that we are on page 2 -

I never said I would not do anything.   I said I won't support more drilling until we stop wasting what we have.

After the well had been flowing into the Gulf for about two months someone asked the news dude if all this loss of oil would affect gas prices in the summer.  He said no, that the amount that had spilled in the two months - all that oil - would not supply the US for ONE HOUR.

How much of that is frivolous?

We bring cloth or recycled, reusable bags to the store. When we can, we try to buy in bulk instead of the redundant packaging that so many manufacturers use. We do our errands in quadrants so as to get the most bang for the gallons used.

We can't, at this time, afford the payments on a hybrid or electric so we'll do what we can. What we WON'T do is to put ourselves into debt and get all panicky about oil when so much of American useage is frivolous. Drag boats and four-wheeled drive races AREN'T necessary. The cavalier way that many company drivers let their units run on while not driving isn't necessary either. If we want to put a dent in mideast terrorism, stop funding the terrorists with BS reasons to use fuel.

I think that a lot of the folks that are currently screaming about entitlements are part of a bigger crowd that feels "entitled" to cheap gas and the unrestricted use of it. It's like they think crude oil comes spewing out of the ground in a spray of red, white and blue!

I knew a guy that had a racing boat. He complained that "this is America and we should have ALL the affordable gas we need". He whined about the fact that the forty gallons he had to have for one day of racing was breaking is budget due to higher prices.

What can anyone say to that?
